Senior Staff Engineer, System’s Integration

Position Overview

The Senior Staff Engineer, System’s Integration is a key member of the IT Engineering and Data team and IT function in general. This position provides thought leadership to shape the integration architecture of the enterprise. Initially focused on core enterprise solutions (ERP, CRM, Master data) this position will extend to other systems within the IT ecosystem. This position will also oversee the delivery of Tier 3 Application support for the integration components. This position will report to the Senior Director, IT Engineering and Data. This is an enterprise-wide role that will support a family of companies including Gilbert, Yearout, Varcomac, Retech Advisors, Therma, CMTA and BSH.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for creating and maintaining company integration architecture and design to enable the spreading of the information across the systems
  • Translate business requirements into well-architected technical solutions that best leverage the capabilities of our selected platforms (currently IFS and Boomi) to ensure the seamless process and data integration
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of internal and contract developers in an Enterprise Production Support environment
  • Shape the technical solution scope creating reference patterns leveraged by other members of the IT team
  • Work closely with internal SMEs and the Product team to identify requirements and design solutions to fulfill them.
  • Curate project and system documentation
  • Solve complex problems on time, spot issues, trace them to their sources, and design solutions

Required Knowledge/Skills

  • Understand the latest software engineering principles and practices, such as methods, patterns, and challenges of integration
  • Strong understanding of modern solution architecture principles and practices
  • Knowledge of cloud IaaS platforms in general with good knowledge of Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure SQL, Azure VMs, Azure API management, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of modern integration platforms such as Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar
  • Good knowledge of one or few modern server-side programming languages either in Java or .NET ecosystem
  • Good knowledge of Database Management Systems and SQL is a plus
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to organize others
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, oral and written, ability to create solid technical specifications and design documents
  • Ability to decipher technical data and explain it to business users

Position Overview

The Senior Staff Engineer, Quality Assurance is a senior subject matter expert and a key leader responsible for quality assurance testing. She/He will own the testing process, methods, and artifacts. This position will report to the Senior Director, IT Engineering and Data. This is an enterprise-wide position that will support a family of companies including Gilbert, Yearout, VarcoMac, Retech Advisors, Therma, CMTA and BSH.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop and execute test plans and test cases based on requirements and customer feedback., manage testing schedules.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate issues.
  • Document and analyze test results, offer improvements to overall product quality.
  • Collaborate with the development teams and business stakeholders on requirements, testing, defect fixes, and validation.
  • Review and validate requirements and technical specifications. 
  • Supports, designs, develops, and enhances test processes and reporting. 
  • Mentors and provides training assistance to QA Engineers.

Senior Staff Engineer, Master Data Management

Position Overview

The Senior Staff Engineer, Master Data Management is a senior technical subject matter expert and a key leader on technical decisions around design, implementation, and delivery of initiatives and enhancements Refficiency MDM platform. She/He will own the design, execution, and support of technical projects and initiatives tied to one or more Master Data Management data subject areas. This position will report to the Senior Director, IT Engineering and Data. This is an enterprise-wide role that will support a family of companies including Gilbert, Yearout, VarcoMac, Retech Advisors, Therma, CMTA and BSH.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project estimation, technical design, delivery, and deployment of MDM deliverables and capabilities that support broader enterprise portfolios.
  • Ensure that solutions developed are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, best technical practices, and guidelines. 
  • Translate business requirements into well-architected technical solutions that best leverage the capabilities of our selected platforms (currently IFS and Boomi) to ensure the best industrial MDM practices
  • Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of internal and contract developers in an Enterprise Production Support environment
  • Work closely with engineering managers, development teams, operational system owners, architects, and key stakeholders to translate requirements related to master data needs into robust solutions.

VarcoMac-Electrical Estimator (Full-Time)

VarcoMac is seeking a talented individual for the position of Electrical Estimator for the Service Department. We require candidates for this position to be detail oriented with a high level of understanding in the commercial electrical industry. Candidates must be very well organized with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining an accurate estimate output. This position will report to the Chief Estimator and will become part of a successful estimating team that performs a critical function of our business.

 

Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  •  Retrieve and manage project documents from client sites for specific projects assigned.
  • Attend jobsite walks where necessary, determine existing conditions, evaluate project specific conditions that impact labor, materials, or other project costs.
  • Review, evaluate, track, and manage all plans, specifications, addenda, RFI’s, contractor scopes, and other relevant documents that are incorporated into an eventual contract.
  • Assemble and distribute vendor bid packages and provide reasonable deadlines that coincide with bid preparation.
  • Prepare take-offs of plans, specifications, and other relevant documents for input to our estimating software.
  • Verify commodity pricing during the assemblance of estimates.
  • Assemble scope letters and matrices with necessary clarifications and/or assumptions.
  • Participate in communicating with client teams to verify the project requirements.
  • Participate in project sales and hand-off meetings with the Project Management team.
  • Follow up on prior submitted bids and pricing.
  • Maintain and grow VarcoMac’s business relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other market partners.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  •  Proficiency with web-based document repositories regularly used by general contractors and other industry professionals.
  • Use of ConEst estimating software or other computer estimating software in which similar skills apply.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Background in electrical estimating for comparable contractors in the DC Metro market.
  • Proficient utilization of the Microsoft Windows based environment including the Microsoft Office Suite for productivity (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

  

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction related curriculum or a combination of field and estimating experience.
  • Minimum 2 years estimating experience in electrical construction.
  • Experience in ConEst or other like estimating software.

This position provides thought leadership to shape Therma’s technical architecture.  This individual will develop and drive consistency across a broad technical landscape (e.g. Azure, Enterprise Network).  This individual has the capability to take explicit business requirements as well as implied requirements (extrapolation) into technical solution designs consistent with Therma’s architecture principals.  This person is then able to implement those solutions either directly or by proving leadership and oversight to others (internal and external).  This position will define and implement consistent ITSM (IT Service Management) capabilities (service desk, device engineering, change control, asset mgmt., etc) across the enterprise.  This position will report to Therma’s CIO.

  • Experience with comprehensive disaster recovery architecture and operations, including storage area network and redundant, highly-available server and network architectures.
  • Experience working with cloud delivery providers (i.e. AWS, GCP, Azure).  Azure experience preferred
